Tax

Personal and company tax returns prepared and explained, with support to plan ahead and meet filing deadlines.

Tax touches almost every decision a business owner, landlord or contractor makes. Anewthing prepares Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns, and looks at the wider position: reliefs you may be entitled to, the timing of transactions, and how changes to your circumstances or to the rules affect what you owe and when.

Common questions

When is my tax return due?

For online returns, the deadline is 31 January following the end of the tax year on 5 April. Paper returns are due by 31 October. Any tax owed is normally payable by 31 January, with payments on account due on 31 January and 31 July for many taxpayers.

Does Making Tax Digital for Income Tax apply to me?

It depends on your qualifying income from self-employment and property. See the article on Making Tax Digital for Income Tax for the current thresholds and dates, or ask Anewthing to check your position.

What is the difference between the filing and payment deadlines?

For most companies, Corporation Tax is payable nine months and one day after the end of the accounting period, while the return itself is due twelve months after the period ends. Large companies pay in instalments.
